Zildjian Cymbals
The first Zildjian cymbal dates all the way back to 1618. Avedis Zildjian was originally trying to figure out a way to combine base metals to create gold, but as luck had it he discovered that by combining copper, tin and traces of silver, he was able to create an alloy with distinct sound qualities. Originally these 'noisemakers' were used to frighten away the enemies of the Ottman Empire, however, in the 19th century, Zildjian started to manufacture cymbals as musical instruments.
